Cargo Office 2.0.6.x

The main navigation in Cargo Office is repositioned to the top of the application. The main navigation has become an integral part of the general menu; every tab represents a separate module within Cargo Office. The side panel function is reduced to showing the Favorites/History and store “My Selection”.
In the side panel you can press the Close panel button to hide the panel. Show the panel by clicking the open/close side panel button next to the round application button at the top.
The Sales margins button is changed to a button with select and dropdown functionality. The Sales margins button is split in two parts:
  • The icon part opens the margin setting window.
  • While the dropdown part opens a margin dropdown window with your predefined margins or apply a quick margin. The quick margin is a fixed value for every column.
The bottom information Panel in the rate overview is restyled and simplified. If the user double-clicks the Information title bar the panel collapses or expands.

New functionality

Based on our client feedback new features are developed or functionality has changed. The main changes are the Margin selection, loading speed airfreight rates, history rates and import custom excel sheets.

New functionality

Based on our client feedback new features are developed or functionality has changed. The main changes are the Margin selection, loading speed airfreight rates, history rates and import custom excel sheets.
  • Quick margins and easy to select custom margins. If the user clicks the Sales margin dropdown button a menu opens. The menu offers the user to choose between selecting a custom predefined margin or a custom margin valid for all weight breaks (Quick margin). The Quick margin is based on a percentage or fixed tariff added to the nett rate.
  • Station Origin; temporally disable the origin filter. If a country has many origin filters, the user can by checking the Discard Origin filter button temporally disable the filter. A new selection to the database is performed without applying an origin filter.
  • Product filter: Temporally disable the product filter.
  • The Track and Trace search box has moved to the Cargo Office Toolbox module. The search key for the airline selection dropdown can switch between the airline Prefix or IATA code.
  • The Cargo Office Configuration window has new functions. Click the upper left application button to open the configuration window. Selective load of surcharges decreases the number of data in memory; this delivers to some systems enhanced performance.
    The future day’s option allows you to set the number of days from today from which future rates should be included in your search results.
    The Cargo Office database is configured to auto compact itself after receiving updates. To force the database to compact and repair click the Compact Access database button.
  • The Rate update information is integrated in the Configuration window. In the update information window the user has the possibility to reload rates in case data has failed to synchronize with the Cargo Office Server.
  • Previous versions of Cargo Office only supported the import of the eRate Sheet. Using the Import Excel wizard allows you to import custom Excel formats.
  • Assign a custom name to the user rate flag icons. In the Rate manager click the Edit Class Definition button to open a new window with the descriptive names of the user rates. Change the description and press save to confirm your changes. The saved names are only available in your local database.
  • Print preview directly available from the tab menu.
  • Alternative search warning. Finding rates to certain destinations can be misleading or incomplete. Cargo Office shows rates by selection an airport or city code. In many cases these two codes are equal to each other. If not; searching by city code is the better option. Cargo Office shows a warning message; if the situation occurs where for example you searched London Heathrow (LHR). Cargo Office notices that London has multiple airports and searches for rates available to the other airports. If any rates exist in the right bottom corner an information message is displayed, click the message to load all rates to London.
  • Finding rates from the past is now made possible with the Rate history window. To open the Rate history window open the application menu from the left top button. In the menu check the Search history checkbox. In the Rate history window select an airline, destination and supply a date or date range. click the Search button to initiate the searching. Please keep in mind this option is only available if you have an internet connection. Expired rates are recognizable by the expired icon and the gray fore color.
  • Sorted column highlighted. The background color of a weight break column that has sorting enabled can be highlighted to give it more attention during your search. Click the right mouse button in the grid to open the grid menu. Check the Highlight sorted weight break option to enable highlighting the sorted weight break.
  • Compare multiple airlines. With Cargo Office you can compare multiple airlines by opening the filter window in the airline column. Click the small filter icon in the column header. The filter window opens with a list of all currently visible airlines, check all required airlines and confirm your changes to show the results. 

Import Wizard

Import air freight ratesNew in Cargo Office is the Excel import for rate information to Cargo Office. Start importing rates from Excel by pressing the Import Excel button in the Rate manager. The Wizard is a step by step guide to import and transform rates from MS Excel to Cargo Office.

The Wizard asks you to select an Excel file from your desktop computer. Confirm your selection by pressing the Next button. The next step in the Wizard is selecting the worksheet you want Cargo office to import. This step shows also a preview of the data within the selected worksheet. Press next to set the range of the data to import. Check the column header checkbox if the file starts with a row containing the rate columns.
The last step before importing binds the imported data to the Cargo Office standard. Each Cargo Office column is linked to a source column. In the Default column a standard value can be set to overwrite a source row value or sets the value if no source column is available.
Click Next to start importing the Excel workbook. Should the import encounter any errors the rows containing the errors have a red background color.

Fuel surcharges

Nowadays carriers more and more specify their surcharges by destination, country or world zones; in pricing this might give you some advantages but the drawback is the complexity surcharges bring to finding the right surcharge to for your rate. Cargo Office supports the use of surcharges for specified destinations or countries.

For future surcharges Cargo Office warns you with a small icon in front of the surcharges columns. Use your mouse pointer to open the tooltip with the new effective from date and pricing information.
To help you keep track of the changes within the surcharges you can by airline see a full history of the surcharge. To print the surcharges you can;
  • Select some rows and press Print preview or,
  • select an airline and press the Print fuel surcharges airline button.
